Street Fighter IV was announced a few months ago for a late 2008 release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and fighting game fans across the globe jizzed their collective pants in unison at the thought of a the first real update to the franchise in over a decade. The trailer posted online was just a teaser, featuring Ryu and Ken in a stylized animated battle. Things were looking promsing.

No gameplay was shown, but now footage has surfaced from the vile underbelly of the interweb showcasing what early development in the game looks like.

The results? Err.. hold on, let me puke in this bucket.

What the hell was that? C'mon Capcom, make up your minds. This looks like some horrible 2D/3D hybrid and they can't decide which way to go. Personally, I'd rather have another 2D Street Fighter in super duper HD over some crappy Street Fighter EX look-a-like on steroids.

True, the game is very early in production, but shit, unless they totally start over from square one that's what the finished product is going to resemble. I don't wanna hate on it too much without playing it, but it looks like fighting fans are going to still be playing Street Fighter II if they want a true SF experience.
