I'm really, really trying to put forth effort with watching MTV and BET more to get back into the loop of things over the last couple of days.
It really pains me to sit through the trash programming just to get to a damn music video I haven't seen yet. I could technically use the internet, but since I'm behind I sort of have no clue what to look for haha.
In my search for fresh shit, I found these.. (note: if these videos don't play, they obviously got removed, so it's not my fault lol).
JAY-Z FEAT. PHARRELL - "I KNOW"
I like Hov a lot more whenever he's spitting over a Pharrell track for some reason. I liked the "American Gangster" album a lot, which is surprising I haven't really been a Jay-Z fan since 2000. "I Know," which made it's TRL debut today, is the third single off the concept disc and is an interesting video because Jay's not even in it.
I do have to say this shit is confusing as hell lol. I know the song is about drug addiction (I'm assume atleast) but the video is, like, some kind of strange lesbian lust rave party crap. Oh well, the cinematography is cool haha.
JORDIN SPARKS FEAT. CHRIS BROWN - "NO AIR"
American Idol winner Jordin Sparks was on BET's 106 and Park today to show off a brand new video off her self-titled album. She was on Fuse's The Sauce yesterday, but I hate that show so much I tuned out before I could see it lol.
This is pretty standard fare for teen music, IMO. I don't hate it, but it's so fluffy wuffy it's almost too sweet for me to listen to. The addition of Chris Brown sure didn't help any matters, either. This is really the first time I've heard anything from her since she won Idol. Result? Meh.
POP IT OFF BOYZ - "CRANK DAT BATMAN"
I still haven't reviewed the Soulja Boy album, but it's painfully obvious by reading my posts that I don't like him or his style AT ALL. Either way, it's set off a trend of minimalist beats of an 808 and a snap that the tikes think is "cool". You've probably seen a million YouTube vids with "Crank Dat *insert random thing here*" as the title along with a dance to go with it, but this is the first time I've seen a signed artist do it for a music video.
Yes, it's called "Crank Dat Batman". It's a tad more tolerable than Soulja Boy since the lyrics are a bit better (which doesn't mean much), but still, dude -- I can make this beat!
