People still buy albums on CD?
1 million plus people who aren't hip to the Bit Torrent train bought Lil' Wayne's new album Tha Carter III last week. Driven by insane *cough* and unjustified *cough* airplay of his hit single "Lollipop," the New Orleans artist was able to go platinum in a week with no problem -- making him the first to do so since 50 Cent's "The Massacre" in 2005. And no, Kanye didn't do it last year.. he was close, but no cigar.
Expect Kanye to whine about that.
Weezy didn't really have any competition though. And before you lame ass females say "PLIES WAS OUT, JEROME! WHAT ABOUT PLIES?!" I will go on record and say I hate that guy. Still, my bad vibes didn't prevent him from landing in an extremely distant #2 spot with Definition of Real selling a little over 200,000.
I'm interested in this Lil' Wayne hype and have downloaded the album for review later. I still got a huge backlog of albums to cover, so I dunno when I can say it will be up. I do have to say that "Lollipop" is the crappiest song on the entire CD... What do you guys think of the CD?
