Final Fantasy XIII

The Xbox 360 is certainly feeling the effects of being first to market lately, despite the increase in sales in 2008. Between the red ring of death (RROD -- which will be ranted about in due time), the need to buy expensive peripherals that should either be cheaper or just free to begin with (new hard drives or the wireless adapter), and more importantly the storage medium.

While the Microsoft's little white wonder can pretty much go toe-to-toe with the Playstation 3 graphically, the fact it's on DVD and the other is on Blu-ray is finally starting to play a factor after four years.

Look at Metal Gear Solid 4. The 360 is indeed now getting a Metal Gear game in the form of Rising, but I doubt it'll be as gigantic in scope as it's predecessor. Final Fantasy XIII, for whatever reason (don't get me started), is a multi-platform game now. If you do a search for my previous posts on the game, you'll know that while I am a fan of the Xbox, I've been joking about the title shipping on like 5 discs or something lol. IGN reports that the title will indeed be shipping on multiple DVDs if needed:

"So we don't know how many discs it'll be housed on for 360, but there won't be a chance that we'll compromise anything because, 'oh it didn't fit in the 360 discs so we'll have to take it out of the PS3 version', or vice versa."

I own both consoles, and while I'd appreciate the Gamerscore I'd get with the 360 version (pointless, I know, but I like bragging), I'm not about to sit around wait for Square to dick around and figure out how to shove it into multiple discs. Sounds like it'll be a PS3 exclusive for a few months first, and honestly, I feel a lot better playing it on a Sony machine anyway.

It still feels odd playing a Sonic game on a Nintendo system these days -- you old folk will relate on that one lol! Which system, if any, will you be buying the game on in Spring 2010?
