The nominations for the 2010 Grammys have been announced, and while I usually only hurt my head trying to cover the VMAs once a year, I think I can swing Grammy coverage as well. Let's hope I don't explode.

Unlike the crap-happy VMAs MTV puts on, this awards show has like a hojillion categories. I'm not going to bother listing them all here, just the ones most people care about -- because I doubt they spend the entire night going through each one.

Oh, and that's another thing -- I've never, EVER sat through an entire show for the Grammys. Nope. I almost did last year and quit, then I heard about the whole Chris Brown/Rihanna hadoken incident, so I'll tune in this time LOL. Here are the major nominations (i.e., the ones I care about):

Album of the Year:

Beyoncé, I Am ... Sasha Fierce
Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D.
Lady Gaga, The Fame
Dave Matthews Band, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King
Taylor Swift, Fearless

PAQ'S PREDICTION: These mainstream shows are hard to call, but I think Lady GaGa is going to win this. She's on a big wave of momentum right now with the re-release of her 2008 dance-pop record, "The Fame Monster," so I'm pretty confident in my choice here. Although, everyone still feels bad for Taylor Swift for what 'Ye did to her, but meh. And why does Swift remind me of a wet kitten everytime I see her?

Record Of The Year

Beyoncé, "Halo"
Black Eyed Peas, "I Gotta Feeling"
Kings of Leon, "Use Somebody"
Lady Gaga, "Poker Face"
Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me"

PAQ'S PREDICTION: Honestly, the most epic of these selections is Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody". It's the freshest sounding out of the bunch, but Bey did sing that "Halo" song to that sickly little girl on tour, so you never know -- she might sneak up from behind and take it, but I'm sticking with Kings of Leon, dammit. And on a side note, I think that Target commercial ruined that Black Eyed Peas joint for me, lol. Can't stand it!

Song Of The Year
(awarded to the songwriters)

Lady Gaga, "Poker Face,"
Maxwell, "Pretty Wings"
Beyoncé, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"
Kings of Leon, "Use Somebody"
Taylor Swift, "You Belong With Me

PAQ'S PREDICTION: Are you serious? Maxwell hands DOWN. If anything else wins, I'm flipping a table. YOUR table.

Best New Artist

Zac Brown Band
Keri Hilson
MGMT
Silversun Pickups
The Ting Tings

PAQ'S PREDICTION: Okay, so The Ting Tings get nominated when I remember hearing them way back in 2008 but Lady GaGa gets snubbed? C'mon guys. I want the Silversun Pickups to win this since I'm digging their material, but Keri Hilson was much more active and visible with her debut album and singles all over the radio. So who's gonna win? Ms. Keri, baaaby!

Best Alternative Music Album

David Byrne & Brian Eno, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today
Death Cab for Cutie, The Open Door
Depeche Mode, Sounds of the Universe
Phoenix, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz!

PAQ'S PREDICTION: You guys should pick up by now, if you read my posts a lot, that I'm a huge Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan. So if they don't win, I'm not only flipping YOUR table, I'm flipping your grandma's table.

Best Rap Album

Common, Universal Mind Control
Eminem, Relapse
Flo Rida, R.O.O.T.S.
Mos Def, The Ecstatic
Q-Tip, The Renaissance

PAQ'S PREDICTION: One of these things is not like the other... How the blue hell did Flo Rida's lame, whiny ass get nominated? Because he knows how to fuck up classic songs? That's a talent now? Eminem has one of the strongest albums of 2009, so while this category is tight (with the notable exception of above), Shady should have no problems winning another Grammy.

Best Rap Solo Performance

Drake, "Best I Ever Had"
Eminem, "Beautiful"
Jay-Z, "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)"
Kid Cudi, "Day n' Nite"
Mos Def, "Casa Bey"

PAQ'S PREDICTION: Now this one is tough. Em's "Beautiful" is a really touching song and one of my favorites off of "Relapse," but if you forget the video, Drake's "Best I Ever Had" is pretty good. Still, I think it's a little early for him to be getting a Grammy, so I'm tossing the coin and going with Jay-Z due to it just being raw hip-hop. His delivery in that song was amazing. This category is very similar to "Best Rap Song," in which case I'll give that nod to Kid Cudi.

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration

Beyoncé & Kanye West, "Ego"
Keri Hilson, Kanye West & Ne-Yo, "Knock You Down"
Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West, "Run This Town"
The Lonely Island & T-Pain, "I'm on a Boat"
T.I. & Justin Timberlake, "Dead and Gone"

PAQ'S PREDICTION: I'm going with The Lonely Island just for kicks. I'll laugh my ass off if that dumb song ends up winning. POSEIDON, LOOK AT MEEE!!!
