"Yeah, it's officially the biggest midget in the game!" barks the 'vertically challenged' UK-rooted MC known as Lady Sovereign (real name Louise Harman).

Influenced by the classic sounds of fellow female MCs, Salt-N-Pepa, Sov began to pen her rhymes at the young age of 14. She started her own buzz by putting some of her work on audio web pages and eventually got signed to Casual Records.

Sovereign appeared briefly stateside in 2006 with her bouncy and bearish single "Love Me or Hate Me" off of her first LP entitled "Public Warning". It didn't make a sumo-sized splash over here, but she did end up topping MTV's daily countdown show, TRL (which is pretty irrelevant after the boy band bubble burst, but hey..) and landing the song in a commercial for the launch of Verizon's LG Chocolate cell phone. "Love Me.." apexed at #45 in the States and also had a remix featuring Missy Elliott if you wish to hunt that one down.

The Brit's are used to her foul lyrics and general zaniness by now, but she took many Americans by surprise. Everyone who heard her spit always had to compare her to Eminem, which is a compliment considering she's a female MC in a game ruled with testosterone and smelly socks, and she has a thick accent that many people would find funny. Hell, I always laugh at English people when they talk lol.

But prior to her invasion of the US, the 21 year old lyricist got put in the hot seat by Uber Hustla and HNIC of Def Jam, Jay-Z. Hov made her do a freestyle to prove her skill, and obviously she passed with flying colors and got a deal with the label.

She's working on new material at the moment, so whenever she releases another album, paq-land.com will surely have a review of it up.
