I know I'm getting up there in age when there are rock bands with major label contracts whose members are mostly all under the legal drinking age. This is the case with Tennessee-based pop-punk band, Paramore (age ranges from 17-22 at the time of this writing).

Signed to "Fueled by Ramen," which happens to be the same home to other successful acts like Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes, the band is fronted by sherbet-haired Hayley Williams (age 18).

It's really nice and refreshing to hear female vocalists in rock bands, even though it's nothing new. Garbage, No Doubt, Kitty, Flyleaf and Evanescence have done it before -- but there still is something unique I like about the band's sound. It's almost if Avril Lavigne didn't, um, suck ("HEY! HEY! YOU! YOU!" get that shit out my face lol).

Overall, their music is very digestable and mainstream without being too annoying to my ears like other pop-punk trash that's taking over my local top 40 station (I'm a fan of actual rock like Distrubed or the old and less homo Linkin Park). You should check out their stuff if you like rock in the slightest.

Their second album, entitled "RIOT!," hits the shelves this week and in most cases, I'd just tell you to download it, but I genuinely like this band lol. They haven't sold a hojillion units yet (they're still pretty normal people), so I would say support them in atleast some fashion. You don't have to buy the CD, but I'd atleast suggest seeing them live or something.. I'm just saying I'd feel "guilty" if I downloaded their album (which I'm probably going to do anyways.. haha)

Here's a video for their current single "Misery Business".

They've also appeared on the soundtrack to Superman Returns, "The Sound of Superman" doing a cover of the Foo Fighters song, "My Hero". Since MTV and MTV2 are alergic to rock videos lately, your best bet is either YouTube or watching Fuse if you have it... that is, when they're not showing a rerun of Rad Girls.

You can also visit their myspace page right here.
